Steam Hardware & Software Survey
---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----
As per the latest Steam hardware survey, things are looking rather grim for AMD’s Radeon Technologies Group. AMD’s most popular graphics card, the Radeon RX 580 is apparently being used by less than 1% of the total Steam user-base, 0.94% to be more specific. There is not a single red card with a higher share on Steam’s database, which to be honest is quite disappointing.

AMD’s big gun, the Radeon VII isn’t even present in the Steam database, and the highest-end red card to appear is the RX Vega (not sure whether the Vega 56 or 64 or perhaps both) with a share of 0.19%, which mind you is even less than NVIDIA’s Turing flagship, the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti.
The repeated price cuts of the Polaris lineup apparently didn’t do much to help AMD’s card. Now, the company’s only hope seems to be the upcoming Navi GPUs (based on the 7nm node) which are expected to land somewhere between Q3-Q4 of this year. Let’s hope they are worth all this wait.
