Richtig ist, dass die K40 mit 6,08 GFlops / W erstmal schlechter da steht als die AMD. Der Release der S9150 Firepro war der 6. August 2014. Der Release der K40 war ungefähr Ende 2013. Man sollte vielleicht Karten vergleichen die zur selben Zeit etwa raus gekommen sind. Die K80 hat im übrigen bereits 9,7 GFlops / W.
Ist AMD also jetzt besser? Gucken wir doch mal genauer hin. Nach der K-Serie hat NVIDIA erst wieder mit der Titan Black für den Pro-Bereich (Double-Precision) etwas getan (Release 18. Feb 2014). Performance (DP) beträgt ~1706,9 GFLops bei einer max. Leistungsaufnahme von grob 250W. Das macht eine Energieeffizenz von 6,82 GFlops / W. Das ist schon mal etwas besser als bei der K40, aber immer noch deutlich schlechter als bei der S9150 (mit Runtertakten kann man da sicherlich noch etwas verbessern).
Der Vorteil der Titan Black gegenüber der S9150 ist aber der Preis. Während eine S9150 ca. 3000€ kostet erhält man die Titan Black schon für 1000€ . Das macht nun 1,7 GFlops / € bei der Titan Black und 0,84 GFlops / € bei der S9150.
Was ist nun die bessere Karte?
