Da ich aktuell kein Projekt in der UE 4 entwickle (Auch wenn ich den Thread durchgängig betreue :ugly:) kann ich dir leider nichts dazu sagen :(

Ansonsten wurde heute die UE 4.20 Preview 1 veröffentlicht. Dieses Release scheint sich, nach dem vorläufigen Überfliegen der Patch-Notes, fast Vollständig dem Ausbauen, Stabilisieren und fixen von bereits vorhandenen Funktionalitäten zu widmen.

4.20 Preview Summary

This list provides a brief summary of updates in this Preview which may benefit from additional testing. Not all updates may be listed. Full release notes will be made available with the final 4.20 release.

Rendering Updates:
  • Cinematic Depth of Field. We have a brand new implementation of Depth of Field to achieve cinematic quality. It is a replacement for Circle DoF method that is faster over most other Depth of Field methods, such as Bokeh and Circle DoF.
  • Digital Humans Improvements. A set of improvements targeted at both skin and eye rendering. Including dual lobe specular for skin, subsurface scattering for the eye material model and more.
  • Rectangular Area Lights. There is now support for a Rectangular Area Light type accessible from the Modes panel with other light types.
    • Currently only supports the Deferred Renderer.
    • Acts mostly like a Point Light, except it has a Source Width and a Source Height to control the area emitting light.
    • Static and Stationary mobility shadowing works like an area light source with Movable dynamic shadowing working more like a point light with no area currently.
Animation/Physics Updates:
  • ProxyLOD Improvements. The new proxy LOD tool has graduated from “Experimental” to “Early Access”: this tool can be used in a Level of Detail (LOD) system. This tool lets you replace a group of meshes with a single simplified mesh requiring only a single draw call. It's most useful when viewing a detailed area such as a city or village from afar.
    • Improved Normal Control: Hard Edge Split Normal
    • Gap Filling
  • Shared SkeletalMesh LOD Setting. Implemented SkeletalMesh LOD Setting Asset that can be shared between SkeletalMeshes
  • Streaming GeomCache and Improved Alembic Importer (Experimental). Geometry cach has been completely rehauled.
    • Individual vertex animation frames are now compressed using an intra-frame codec based on Huffman encoding.
    • The Alembic importer has been changed to iteratively import frames rather than importing all frames in bulk.
  • Scripted Extensions for Actor and Content Browser Context Menu. The context menus for actors and content browser items can now be extended using Blutilities.
  • Animation Retarget Manager. Animation Retargeting Manager supports saving and loading of the mapping data.
  • RigidBody Anim Node Improvements.
  • Clothing Tapered Capsule Collision. Added support for tapered capsules to physics assets. Tapered capsules are only supported by clothing, not by rigid bodies
  • Copy Vertex Colors To Clothing Param. Added tool to copy SkeletalMesh vertex colors to any selected clothing parameter mask
Audio Updates:
  • Sub Audio Recording [New Audio Engine Only] Added the ability to record the engine output or any submix’s output to a .wav file or a soundwave asset.
Sequencer Updates:
  • Frame Accuracy. Sequencer now stores all internal time data as integers, allowing for robust support of frame-accuracy in situations where this is a necessity.
  • Media Track. Sequencer has a new track for playing media sources. It is like the audio track, but for movies.
  • Curve Editor/Evaluation. Weighted tangents are now supported on float curves. Sequencer now supports continuous euler angle changes when changing rotations.
  • Anim Instance Control. It is now possible to animate variables on anim instances through possessables, allowing direct control of anim blueprint variables, functions and other content.
  • Final Cut Pro 7 XML Import/Export. Sequencer movie scene data can now be exported to and imported from the Final Cut Pro 7 XML format. This can be use to roundtrip data to Adobe Premiere Pro and other editing software that supports FCP 7 XML.
  • Sequence Recorder Improvements.
  • Track Improvements. Tracks, Actors and Folders can now be reordered in Sequencer and UMG animations.
VR/AR Updates:
  • Mixed Reality Capture: Early Access. The early access Mixed Reality Capture support has three components: video input, calibration, and in-game compositing. We have a list of supported webcams and HDMI capture devices that enable you to pull real world green screened video into the Engine from a variety of sources. ‘
  • Instanced Stereo Rendering: Translucency Support. We’ve taken the improvements to the Instance Stereo Rendering (ISR) path that we made for Robo Recall, and improved them to work across a more robust set of features in the engine. 4.20 adds support for performing the translucency rendering pass using ISR, which can significantly reduce CPU cost on translucency-heavy scenes.
Networking Updates:
  • Replication Driver / Replication Graph (Experimental)
    • UReplicationDriver is a base class that can be used for implementing custom server replication logic.
    • UReplicationGraph is an implementation of UReplicationDriver that provides a replication system optimized for games with large actor and player counts.
  • Steam Authentication has been added.
Mobile Updates:
  • All of the mobile improvements and optimizations we’ve made for Fortnite on iOS and Android
    • Improved Android Debugging
    • Mobile Landscape Improvements
    • RHO Thread on Android
    • Occlusion Queries on Mobile
    • Software Occlusion Culling
    • Platform Material Stats
    • Improve Mobile Specular Lighting Model
Gameplay/Scripting Updates:
  • Blueprint Bookmarks (Experimental). The Blueprint Bookmarks feature provides the ability to create named Bookmarks in any function graph in the Blueprint editor.
  • Blueprint Watch Window. The Blueprint Watch Window is designed to speed up debugging by giving you access to the variables and nodes that you want to watch, even across multiple Blueprints
Editor & Tools Updates:
  • Niagara is now available as Early Access. This means that we are far enough along in development that we want to share it with our customers and get as much feedback as possible before it becomes a standard engine feature.
    • Redesigned User Interface
    • New Modules. All of Niagara’s modules have been updated or rewritten to support commonly used behaviors in building effects for games.
    • GPU Simulation. We now have GPU simulation working on DX11, PS4, Xbox One, OpenGL, and Metal. Vulkan and Switch are currently not supported.
    • CPU Simulation & Compilation. CPU simulation should work properly for PC/PS4/Xbox One/OpenGL (ES3.1)/Metal. Vulkan and Switch are currently not supported.
  • UMG Savezone. The Screen Size you select in UMG and Play-In-Editor (PIE) settings are now linked with Device Profiles which also takes into account the Mobile Content Scale Factor, meaning that the final resolution and DPI scale will change based on the device screen size selected.
  • Material Gradient Curve. Materials can now use a Curve Atlas asset to store and access linear color curve data through Blueprint.
  • Slate Performance Improvements
  • Mesh Description - New Mesh Format. Unreal Engine 4 is moving to a new higher-level intermediate format which can represent any type of mesh asset in the engine. This is a gradual process that will improve workflow and enable us to provide some great new features, and we want to be completely transparent during this process.
  • Color Picker: Label Saved Colors. Colors saved in your Theme Bar or Theme Menu can now be labeled by right-clicking them.
  • Content Browser: Recently Opened Filter. There is a new filter option to list the most Recently Opened assets in the Content Browser. This filter lists the 20 most recently opened assets.
Core Updates:
  • Garbage Collection Improvements.
  • Visual Studio 2017. UE4 will now use the Visual Studio 2017 compiler, and generate project files for Visual Studio 2017 by default. We’ve also added support for the Windows 10 SDK.

Es steht dir frei eine ältere Version über den Epic Games Launcher zu installieren, mit welcher dein Projekt noch startet ;)
Zusätzlich dann einfach einen Bug-Report nach dieser Anleitung verfassen: Report a Bug

Du kannst dein Projekt vollständig Single-Threaded erstellen oder so viel parallelisieren wie es halt möglich (und sinnvoll) ist, was den Code natürlich auch komplexer und fehleranfälliger machen kann. DirectX 12 und Vulkan sind bereits in den Renderer integriert neben DirectX 11 :)

Erstellst du dein Porgramm auf Basis von Blueprints? Falls ja, dann hab ich keine Ahnung :ugly:
Solltest du das Ganze jedoch in C++ implementieren, dann gibt es im Unreal Engine Wiki, unter der Kategorie Code, Abschnitte in denen Multi-Threading erläutert wird. Ist allerdings ein etwas komplexeres Thema welches auch ganz tolle Fehler hervorrufen kann, falls man nicht weiß, was man da tut :P

Known & Fixed Issues
4.21 Preview Summary

This list provides a brief summary of updates in this Preview which may benefit from additional testing. Not all updates may be listed. Full release notes will be made available with the final 4.21 release.

Animation Updates:
  • Animation Compression Updates. AnimCompression now uses a whitelist of optimal codecs to avoid trying permutations that are unlikely to be selected. This significantly reduces the number of codecs we attempt to compress with and as a result it is much faster. On multicore systems, most of the codecs now evaluate in parallel during automatic compression, further reducing the time it takes to compress an animation sequence.
  • Animation Notify Improvements. Native Notifies have been added in Engine for dynamics and cloth management.
  • Maintain Original Scale of Root Motion.
  • Added Caching and Autocomplete for “Sync Market Names.
  • Animation Sequence Framerate. Added animation sequence framerate to the Editor Viewport and Content Browser tooltip.
  • Enable Auto Blend Out on Anim Montages. Anim Montages now have the option to enable or disable Auto Blend Out. This option is enabled by default.
  • Live Animation Blueprint Recompilation is now non-experimental.
  • CCDIK Skeletal Control Node. CCDIK Skeletal Control Node is now available within the AnimGraph of Animation Blueprints.
  • Default Coordinate Space for Animation Editors is now Local Space
  • Min LOD Notification.
  • Skeletal Mesh: Set Master Pose Component Force Update
Audio Updates:
  • Submix Envelope Follower (New Unreal Audio Engine Only). Users can now set an Envelope Follower Delegate on their Submixes allowing amplitude analysis of individual channels for that submix.
  • New Sound Submix Effect: Filter. Users now have the option of adding a multimode filter to their Submixes allowing dynamic filter effects on a single Submix.
  • Sound Submix Effect REverb Dry Level. The Submix Effect Reverb now supports Parallel Wet and Dry Levels allowing users to dial in specific Wet/Dry ratios making the Effect usable as an Insert-Style Effect as well as a Send-Style Effect.
  • Optimizations to Source Effect API. The Source Effect API has been optimized to process a full buffer of audio rather than frame-by-frame.
Core Updates:
  • Cooker Performance. We have improved performance of the Unreal asset cooking process. We have optimized various low-level code to eliminate unnecessary operations and refactored the handling of unsolicited assets in the CookOnTheFlyServer class so that it scales better.
Desktop Updates:
  • Linux Platform Get Media Player. From 4.21 on, you can use bundled WebMMedia plugin to play back .webm VPX8/9 videos.
  • Linux Crash Report Client Has a GUI. We’ve added support for the Crash Reporter GUI to now pop up when a crash occurs! This enables you to help make Linux better by quickly and easily reporting crashes that you encounter.
Gameplay/Scripting Updates:
  • Blueprints Improvements.
    • Added a Blueprint Graph editor “Quick Jump” bookmark feature.
    • Add abillity to insert pins before or after a target pin for Sequence nodes via the context menu.
    • Monolithic engine header file exclusion from nativized Blueprint class C++ code is now available as a project setting.
  • AI Improvements.
    • Added a GetTypeHash override for FGenericTeamId so that it can be used in a UPROPERTY TMap
    • Added a function to PerceptionSystem that allows to register a given Actor as a source with all registered senses, all in one call.
  • Core Improvements.
    • Add support for soft references to save games via ObjectAndNameAsStringProxyArchive.
  • Gameplay Framework
    • Added MinimalApi to ACullDistanceVolume
    • Added a Blueprint method DoesDataTableRowExist to determine whether or not a table contains the specified row.
    • Added UActorComponent::bVisualizationComponent boolean to indicate that a component is being used as a visualizer and is not a part of the component hierarchy.
    • Added new vertical splitscreen mode for 3 and 4 players that give each player full height and divides the screen horizontally.
    • TInlineComponentArray can now specify to include components from child actors.
    • Mark several functions as BlueprintThreadSafe for less common gameplay types that might want to be used by animation.
Mobile Updates:
  • HTML5: Split Angle Single Large Template File to Smaller Template Files
  • HTML5: README Files Updated
  • Additional mobile improvements and optimizations we’ve made for Fortnite on iOS and Android.
Networking Updates:
  • Improved IPv6 Support. Support for IPv4 and IPv6 has been merged into a single socket subsystem, where previously support for each protocol was isolated to a specific subsystem.
  • DDoS Detection and Mitigation. DDoS (distributed denial of service) attacks typically hinder game servers by flooding them with so many packets, that they are unable to process all of the packets without locking up and/or drowning out other players’ packets, causing players to time out or to suffer severe packet loss which hinders gameplay.
Niagara Updates:
  • GPU only texturing sampling. You can now sample a 2d texture or a pseudo-volume 2d texture in your particle scripts.
  • Skeletal mesh data interface improvements. Two new modes have been added for sampling the skeletal mesh.
  • Ribbon rewrite. Ribbons now do the work to generate the ribbon geometry on the GPU instead of the CPU.
  • Switch support
  • New emitter and system wizard. Added the ability to create new emitters and systems from a data-driven set of templates.
Physics Updates:
  • Physics Interface: We have been reworking the physics interface to support an increased ownership of physics objects at the high level. As a consequence much of the physics related c++ code an API has changed.
Rendering Updates:
  • Virtual Texturing and support for Lightmaps. In the coming releases, we’ll start to support Virtual Texturing in UE4! It allows for efficient usage of texture memory enabling artists to author very high resolution textures and lightmaps without concern for what will fit into video memory.
  • PSO Caching. We now support Shader Pipeline Caching, which can be enabled in the Project Settings > Packaging section.
  • Physical Lighting Units Updates. We introduced Physical Lighting Units a couple of release ago and have listened to your feedback in order to streamline and remove confusion with using these settings. These are some of the updates that have been made:
    • Directional Lights now have LUX units
    • Sky Lights now have cd/m2 units
    • Pre-Exposure Support for the Pixel Inspector
    • New Project Settings to increase auto-exposure luminance range
    • Updates to the HDR Visualization Tools
Sequender Updates:
  • Event Track. A new implementation of the Event Track replaces the previous Event Track functionality.
  • Geometry Cache Track: Experimental. The new (and experimental) Geometry Cache Track allows you to scrub through a Geometry Cache and render it out with frame accuracy.
  • Audio Bakedown: Experimental. From the Render Movie Settings window, you can now bake down the audio into a Master Audio Submix (experimental).
  • Guide Marks. You can now lay down vertical guide marks on the timeline to use for snapping or identifying key points in your timeline.
VR/AR Updates:
  • Steam VR Input. The Unreal Engine 4 input action and event system now contains experimental support for the SteamVR Input subsystem.
  • Round Robin Occlusions. Unreal Engine 4 now supports Round Robin Occlusions.
  • Windows Mixed Reality Support. Unreal Engine 4 now natively supports the Windows Mixed Reality (WMR) platform and headsets, including the HP Mixed Reality headset and the Samsung Odyssey.
  • Oculus Avatars. The Oculus Avatar SDK includes an Unreal package to assist developers in implementing first-person hand presence for the Rift and Touch controllers.
  • Magic Leap Qualified Developer Release Supported in Engine. Unreal Engine now supports all features needed to develop complete applications on Magic Leap's Lumin device.
