In summery, with a few little changes and one major change, amd will have an answer to the GDDR5 versions of the 260/280 as well as the gt100 series. Below is the specs for the 4805 series:
4855-4875 changes besides the 40nm die, chip size 205, and 1,000 stream shaders:
-4850- clock increase to 700mhz from 625mhz and ram changed to 512mb 256bit-GDDR5 at 1000mhz. Will have a 1GB version and OC versions of both at 1-2 months after launch. Price: $150-200
-4875- Clock changed to 850 (possibly 900mhz) frm 750 and ram is 1GB 512-bit GDDR5 at 1000mhz. Will have 2GB version and OC versions of both at 1-2 months after launch. Price: $250-300
-4890- Will be a dual-core 512-bit (256x256-bit) gpu video card with 2 rv775 making up the core. Core speed will be 50-100 mhz (900mhz-1ghz effectively) higher than the rv775 and have 2GB 512-bit GDDR5 at 1,150 mhz (4.6ghz), possible 4gb GDDR5 coming out later. 80 TMUs (40x40), 2,000 stream shaders (200x200 ALUs) 32 ROPs (16x16 ROPs). Also it will be powered most likely by 2 6pins rather than a 6 pin and a 8 pin and will be crossfirex compatible with up to 4 videocards. To put that in perspective the geforce 280 has 80 TMUs, 240 stream shaders, and 32ROPs (note that stream shaders are counted differently and that its more accurate to compare nvidia stream shaders with AMDs ALUs). So the 4890 matches the 280 at every spec and surpass it at stream shaders and for a short while will beat both the 280 and go toe-to-toe with the 280 gx2 for a while. Price: $499
-4880- May not come out but if it does, these are the specs. Based of the 4850, is a dual-core gpu with 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 memory, possible 2-3gb GDDR5 version coming out later. Core clock is 775mhz and memory clock is at 1,100mhz (4.4ghz). This is to combat the GDDR5 260 as well as the GDDR3 55nm 280. Will replace the 4850x2 and possibly the 4870x2. Price: $399
The 4855 and 4875 will possibly launch at or shortly after CES 09, while the rest of the 4005 will launch in late january-february. The 4890 launches mid to late january and possibly February while the 4880 will launch mid-February-march.
Remember this is just my theory based on current info on the video card series coming in Q1 09, intuition, and my common sense.
