Problem mit Auflösung. Graka, Kabel oder Monitor schuld?

Zu aller erst:
Grafikkarte: ATI Radeon HD2600XT, 256 MB DDR3, Anschlüsse: 2x DVI-I
Montor: Samsung Syncmaster 245b plus, Anschluss: DVI-D
Ich hab folgendes Problem:
Ich hab mir den Samsung Syncmaster 245b plus zugelegt. Bin soweit auch zufrieden damit. Aber: die native Auflösung sind 1920x1200 Pixel. Mein Catalyst Control Center meldet mir jedoch, dass die max. reported resolution nur 1680x1050 Pixel sind.
Ich hab echt schon alles ausprobiert, was mir einfiel (zugegebener Maßen nicht so viel
): Neuen Treiber für meine Graka installiert, neuen Treiber für Monitor installiert und das mitgelieferte DVI-D Single Link Kabel durch ein DVI-D Dual Link Kabel ersetzt.
Ich hab bewusst die DVI´s unterstrichen. Ich hab bei Wikipedia gelesen, dass man ohne Probleme ein DVI-D Kabel in eine DVI-I Buchse stecken kann. Hat ja auch funktioniert. Aber weiterhin erzählt mir mein CCC, dass die maximale Auflösung bei 1680x1050 Pixel sind.

Jetzt meine Frage: Kann es sein, dass meine Graka "Schuld" ist? Und wenn nicht: Wisst ihr vielleicht einen Rat?
Bitte helft mir, denn so langsam zweifel ich echt n bissl an meinem Verstand
