ich habe heute nach langer Zeit mal wieder ein sehr altes Notebook angeworfen, ein Asus EEE 1000HE. Während Linux seine Updates installierte, konnte ich deutliche Geräusche der HDD hören. Daraufhin habe ich dann mal schnell die Smartwerte ausgelesen:

Meine bescheidenen SMART Kenntnisse analysieren daraus: Platte hat einen weg, ist aber noch nicht ganz kaputt. Würdet ihr euch dieser Einordnung anschließen?

(Falls die Frage aufkommt: Ja, keine wichtigen Daten drauf und alles gesichert)

Die Festplatte ist bis auf die wohl älteren Command Timeouts ohne Fehler, keine Lesefehler oder Suchfehler, da bei diesen beiden Attributen von Seagate-HDDs der Hexadezimale Rohwert geteilt auszuwerten ist, leider berücksichtigt das smartctl nicht.

Die Geräusche könnten auch von Plattenselbsttests oder von Schreiboperationen der Updates kommen.

Nichtsdestotrotz kann jeder Massenspeicher, egal wie alt oder neu, egal wie gut oder schlecht sein Zustand sei, jederzeit ohne Vorwarnung vollständig ausfallen. Gegen Datenverlust hilft nur Datensicherung und gegebenenfalls Backups derselben.
