The office programs are a little fickle with calculating bulk hours.
To calculate with them, you must format the cells correctly:
Either by defining a new user specific format or modifying an existing one.
Now you ca calculate with it.
Example:
A sum of a row of hours:
8:00
9:00
10:00
05:00
12:15
Gives:
44:15
44hours, 15 mins.
=131:45
